Mr. Kenneth Duke Allen, Jr., 50, of Thomaston, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Allen was born in Griffin on October, 22, 1962, the eldest son of Maudine Gilbert Allen and the late Kenneth Duke Allen, Sr. He was a 1980 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute.

Mr. Allen served the State of Georgia for over 26 years as a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol. At the time of his retirement he held the rank of Sergeant, Assistant Post Commander, at the Georgia State Patrol post in Thomaston. He also served his country as an active member of the U. S. Navy Reserve for 31 years and held the rank of Lieutenant.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lyndel Brabham Allen; his mother, Maudine G. Allen of Thomaston; four children, Kendel (Daniel) Purvis of Thomaston, Ashton (Clayton) Meeks of Ellijay, Cole Allen and Caleb Allen, both of Thomaston; three brothers, Greg (Angela) Allen and Jeff (Dede) Allen, both of Thomaston and Mike (Rhonda) Allen of Columbus; close friends Mike and Dawn Knight of Thomaston; 10 nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services for Mr. Allen will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Overton and Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Allen’s family will receive friends at Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m.
