The Upson County Ministerial Association, an association crossing denominational and cultural lines, is publishing the following statement concerning the “liquor by the drink” referendum, which the Upson County Commissioners are considering bringing to a public vote.

“The Upson County Ministerial Association desires to ask Upson County’s commissioners to refrain from putting a “liquor by the drink” referendum on our county’s ballot. We feel that “liquor by the drink” is already available within the county limits since it can be purchased in Thomaston. Adding more opportunities in outlying county areas will only increase the number of DUI arrests over the staggering 2012 figure of 289. We have a responsibility to shape our community into the kind of safe and attractive family atmosphere that we know is best for our county. Please let us limit “liquor by the drink” to what is already available within the county borders.”

The Upson County Ministerial Association

President, Rev. Claude Turner

The more DUI's the more money they make!!!!! Law enforcement are not for "protecting & serving", they are income generators!!!
