On Saturday, December 15, starting at 6:30 p.m. the Upson-Lee Knights and Lady Knights will face the Mary Persons Bulldogs in basketball in the ULHS Gym. However, this year will be a little different. A Red Out will take place to bring awareness to heart disease, the number one killer of all Americans.
During the game we will honor and remember loved ones while helping to fight heart disease and stroke. All proceeds will also be donated in honor and memory of Coach Carl Flowers. Teams, students, and community members are encouraged to purchase and wear an American Heart Association “Rock the Beat” shirt to school and to the game in honor of loved ones. T-shirts are being sold at school for $10.
Cardiovascular disease kills more people in the US than the next 5 leading causes of death combined, including cancer. The Red Out is a great way to celebrate the life of family and friends we have lost to this devastating disease while making a difference by helping to save others. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association and will help to fund research and education.
If you would like more information on how you can get involved, please contact ULHS teacher Katie Ayer, at 706-975-4121.
