Wrestling Knights defeat Sandy Creek, Pike County

The Upson-Lee wrestling team traveled to Pike County Tuesday evening, taking on the Pike County Pirates, Sandy Creek Patriots, and LaGrange Grangers.

Upson-Lee defeated Pike County by a 42-36 score and defeated Sandy Creek 54-30, while losing a close match to LaGrange 45-33. Upson-Lee’s Jacob Jackson (285 lbs), C.J. Kirschmann (195 lbs), and Tyrese Davis (170 lbs) each won all of their matches by pin.

In the Knights’ opening match against LaGrange, senior C.J. Kirschmann earned the Knights six points with a pin in the first round. Jackson also pinned his opponent earning UL six points, along with Kolby Schadenberg’s (113 lbs) pin earning six points. Michael Kirschmann (138 lbs.) earned three points for the Knights with a decision victory.

In their next match, the Knights faced off with the Pirates from Pike County. The Knights defeated the Pirates by a 42-36 score, with pins coming from Tyrese Davis (170 lbs), Jake Weatherford (182 lbs), C.J. Kirschmann (195 lbs), Nathaniel Bloodworth (220 lbs), Jacob Jackson (285 lbs), and Deven Green (132 lbs).

The Knights defeated Sandy Creek 54-30 in their final match. The Knights earned points by pin from C.J. Kirschmann (195 lbs), Jacob Jackson (285 lbs), Josh Draime (106 lbs), Kolby Schadenberg (113 lbs), Michael Kirschmann (138 lbs), and Devontae Daniel (145 lbs).
