It’s the ‘thanks’ that counts

To the editor:

From the box office window at The Ritz Theatre it seems that you can watch the whole world go by. Sometimes going the wrong way… cars that is. You can see people parking and exiting their cars to come to The Ritz.

The happy, smiling and excited faces of children coming to the movies. The groups of adults, as they look forward to an evening out- You know the big screen is always much better!

From the box office you can view a small part of Thomaston life. Sometimes I feel like a goldfish looking out of my bowl. Sometimes I see things I don’t want to see, but often I see things which make me happy and grateful for being in Thomaston and among the wonderful people here.

The other evening I watched as people lined up for “Breaking Dawn 2.” In the midst of about 20 people under the marquee I noticed a couple frantically counting their money for admission, but coming up short.

Two other people nearby who saw the situation dipped into their pockets and handed them a couple of dollars to make up what was needed so that they could come to see the show. Nobody else probably knew of their actions.

I did not know any of the people involved, but I say a sincere thank you to them for their kindness. At this ThanksgIving time it seemed especially appropriate.

From all of us at The Ritz, we want to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday and remember, it’s the “thanks” that counts.
