Morrison James Parkerson, Jr., 59 of Woodbury died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Meriwether Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm, Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Parkerson was born December 21, 1952 in Atlanta, the son of Morrison James Parkerson, Sr. and Nellie Bell Gordy Parkerson. He had worked most recently for TenCate Mills, but worked for a long period of time for the Peerless Division of Thomaston Mills. Mr. Parkerson was a Christian and attended many Holiness Churches in the area. He was always eager to help others. To relax, he enjoyed shooting pool and snooker and wrote poetry and songs. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a gifted artist and painter, but spent most of his spare time reading his Bible.

Survivors include his three sons, Christopher Parkerson and his wife, Cindy of Panama City, Fla., Joshua Parkerson and his wife, Jennifer of Dahlonega, Ga., Stephen Parkerson and his wife, Jennifer of Thomaston; three sisters, Barbara Duke of Woodbury, Beatrice Shirey of LaGrange, Joyce Dukes of Woodbury; one brother, Charles Presley and his wife, Debbie of Manchester and 11 grandchildren.
