Josh Henderson arrived at Thomaston Ford at 10:30 Saturday morning determined to win the 2007 Ford Focus that was to be given away at 4:00 p.m.
This was the Sixth Annual Car Give-A-Way at Thomaston Ford. The company gives back to the community through giving school supplies for Upson-Lee North, Upson-Lee South, and Upson-Lee Middle school. But this is its biggest contribution, according to John Vaughn.
“All of the money raised today from food and drinks will go toward the purchasing of school supplies that we will be donating to the local schools at the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year,” said Vaughn.
“This great event could not be possible if it were not for owner Jane Harness and general manager Chip Richardson,” said Earl Peavey, service manager.
Students who brought their report cards into Thomaston Ford received one entry for every B that was on their report cards, three entries for every A, and four entries for having perfect attendance.
“I had an idea that I might win, that's why I got here at 10:30 this morning,” Henderson said laughing. “I won't be driving my 95' Chevy Blazer anymore now that I am going to be getting 27 miles per gallon now,”
“Thank you Thomaston Ford, for this new car, possibly winning the car was initiative for me to go to school every day and make good grades,” Henderson explained.
Henderson plans to attend Gordon College in Barnesville, while majoring in business administration.
