This year the UL Touchdown Club will be having its’ annual kick-off Classic July 25-26 to benefit the football program. The tournament will run like it has in the past. The format will be a two person shamble, and will take place at Raintree Golf Course.
A shamble means that both player will hit their tee shots, choose their best drive, then play their own balls the rest of the hole. The lowest score between the two team members will be the team score.
All golfers will be flighted by handicap. A golfer and his/her partner cannot have a difference of more than seven strokes with their handicaps. (Ex: Golfer A has a handicap of 6, golfer B can only have a handicap as high as 13.) If you have a partner that has a higher handicap that is more than seven strokes, he/she will have to play at a handicap that is only seven above their partner. (EX. If golfer A haS a handicap of 6 and golfer B has a handicap of 18, golfer B will be flighted as a 13 handicap).
The number of flights will be determined by the number of teams in the tournament. The Championship A and Championship B flights will play from the back tees, while seniors 60 and older will play from the front tees. All others will tee off from the middle tees. Tournament prizes will also be based on the number of teams in the tournament.
The tournament will be a two-day event held on July 25 and 26. Raintree Golf Course will be hosting the event and tee times will begin at 8 a.m. on both days. Everyone will start from hole number one (not a shotgun start). There will be a dinner for all golfers at Bickley’s Lake on July 24 at 6 p.m. Dinner is free for all golfers in the tournament, and for $11 all others to eat. The cost for each team is $250, and hole sponsorships are $100.
