The West Central Georgia Bank Braves took care of business against the Mt. View White Sox in the Rookie League Championship. With the Dudley’s Body Shop Rangers defeating the Tasty Shoppe Orioles in the Dixie Minor League Championship (see the June 16 edition of The Thomaston Times for the championship game recap), the Dixie Youth baseball league is the only league left to still determine a champion. Here is a recap of the Rookie Leage Braves vs. White Sox title game.

WCGB Braves: 11

Mt. View White Sox: 4

The West Central Georgia Bank Braves scored nine runs in the first two innings, as they cruised to an 11-4 victory over the Mountain View White Sox. J. Thomas Reeves led the way for the Braves with three hits and two runs scored in the victory.

In the top of the first inning, the White Sox jumped on the board first. Caden Speck led the game off with a base hit, and eventually came home to score later in the inning. The Sox also got hits in the inning from Camden O’Neal, Ridge Gulledge, MiQuavius Smith, and Andrew Ard, but they only scored one run.

In the top of the second inning Allen Hunsinger and Bryise Wheeler each came through with hits for the White Sox, but once again they could not capitalize and came away without a run scored.

In the bottom half of the inning, the White Sox would put the game out of reach. Cameron Weldon, J. Thomas Reeves, Trace Peaden, Cohen Ivie, and Braden Dawson all added hits and scored runs in the inning. The Braves scored five runs on seven hits in the inning, as they cruised to the 11-4 victory.
