ULHS 9th graders get ‘Fresh Start’ at ceremony

For many students the start of their high school career can be rather daunting and the process of adjusting to a new school with new teachers and classmates can take a while. In order to help with the transition, Upson-Lee High School held its 3rd annual Fresh Start ceremony for the 9th grade class earlier this week at the Fine Arts Auditorium. The program is sponsored by Balfour and serves to encourage students to stay on track and keep their grades up while working towards their graduation in 2018.

Where have all the D-1 prospects gone?

It is great to hear that Upson-Lee defensive tackle David Marshall has received a number of college scholarship offers from Division-1 college football teams. Although he is just a junior, David has obviously made a very positive impression on recruiters from schools like Ole Miss, Alabama, and Auburn. Hopefully he will continue to make progress and improve in order to get the opportunity to get a college education and play major college football.

ULMS Lady Knights improve to 3-0

City approves rezoning moratorium

The Thomaston City Council unanimously approved a 12-month rezoning moratorium at their meeting on September 2. The moratorium will give the city time to update its aging zoning ordinance.City Attorney Joel Bentley and City Manager Patrick Comiskey made the request for the moratorium to the council.
