Rotary Club recognizes Teachers of the Year

The Thomaston-Upson Rotary Club held their Teacher of the Year Luncheon on March 19, honoring the Teachers of the Year for both the Thomaston-Upson School System and Southern Crescent Technical College. Melody Gaskins, a first grade teacher at Upson-Lee Elementary School, was named the Teacher of the Year for the Thomaston-Upson School System. Michael Cook, a Business Management Program Coordinator and Instructor at Southern Crescent Technical College, received the 2013 Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Education. The Rick Perkins Award is the equivalent to being named Teacher of the Year at Southern Crescent Technical College. Left to right in the photo are Rotary Club President Carla Clayton, ULSE Principal Dr. LaSharon McClain, Thomaston-Upson School System Teacher of the Year Melody Gaskins, Rick Perkins Award Winner Michael Cook, Steve Cromer, Dean of Academic Affairs for Southern Crescent Technical College, and Steve Daniel, Provost for Southern Crescent Technical College.
