Two in jail after false robbery report

The Upson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Thomaston store clerk and her boyfriend on June 12 after they allegedly faked a robbery of the convenience store where she worked.

On June 10, 2012, store clerk Amanda Johnson, 26, reported an armed robbery at the Hannah’s Mill Convenience Store, located at Hannah’s Mill Road and West County Road. She reported that she was robbed at gunpoint by a black male wearing a bandanna over his face and a hat pulled down over his eyes.

An investigation revealed that Johnson filed a false report of a crime alleging the robbery and that she and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Aaron Bernard Wilson, collaborated to commit a theft from the store. The robbery was staged to appear on the store’s video surveillance system.

Johnson allegedly admitted her involvement to investigators and gave information relevant to Wilson’s involvement. Johnson was arrested and charged with false report of a crime and party to the crime of theft by taking. Wilson was also arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and theft by taking.

Both are in custody and being held in the Upson County Jail.
