While the extreme heat Saturday kept the crowd smaller than normal, several thousand people turned out for the annual Celebrate America event at The Rock Ranch. Mindful of the scorchingly hot weather, The Rock Ranch had several areas set up to help visitors cool off, including sprinklers set up that kids loved playing in. After the sun went down, in a scene similar to the Star Spangled Banner’s lyrics: “… And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there…” fireworks illuminated one of the America flags hanging on the bandstand (lower portion of photo).
