Hundreds turn out for annual Emancipation Proclamation Day Parade and Festivities

Larry Stanford|The Thomaston Times

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Thomaston Saturday for the annual Emancipation Proclamation Day Parade, then took part in festivities in Lincoln Park later. In the upper photo, Mary Lizzie Baptist Church of Thomaston had one of the most colorful floats, as multi-colored balloons and children in tie-died shirts decorated the float. The parade attracted people from out of town as well, with school bands from Macon, Greenville, and Clayton County participating in the parade, along with the float from the New Birth Outreach/Naomi Home Ministries from Valley, Ala. For more photos of the Emancipation Proclamation Day Parade, see next week’s editions of The Thomaston Times.
