Upson Regional Medical Center has been named one of the top small hospitals in the state by Georgia Trend magazine.

In its December edition, Georgia Trend released their list of 72 different facilities that excel in areas such as quality of care, patient satisfaction, mortality and readmission statistics and data on hospital-acquired infections and conditions.

“This recognition is the product of our compassionate, patient-centered employees, who day-in and day-out put the patient in the center of everything they do to ensure continually higher levels of quality, safety, and service,” said URMC CEO David Castleberry.

Georgia Trend’s 2012 Top Georgia Hospitals listings include 72 different facilities throughout the state, divided into five separate categories: Eight Teaching Hospitals, Eight Large Hospitals (more than 400 beds); 20 Medium-sized Hospitals (151-399 beds); 20 Small Hospitals (fewer than 150 beds), and 16 Critical Access Hospitals (rural community hospitals).

The data used to determine the rankings is publicly available from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and online at www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov.
