Rev. Clarence Hoyt Denny, age 95, of Zebulon, passed away December 27, 2012.

He was born on February 8, 1917 in Lineville, Ala. He was a Baptist Minister for over 55 years. He pastored several churches in the area; Beulah Baptist, The Rock Baptist and New Bethel Baptist. At the age of 85, he helped establish Rehoboth Baptist Church in Luthersville. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II where he received a Bronze Star. He loved his family, family reunions and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clay Denny and Mary Elizabeth Dingler Denny; his former wives, Myrtise Dunn Denny and Elorene Stamps Denny, and 12 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Ken and Diane Denny of Zebulon; granddaughters and their husbands: Jent and John Duncan of Thomaston and Lisa and Robert Housman of Zebulon;

great-grandchildren: Chris and Chase Duncan, Tre, Lyric, Dakota, Kylee and Memphis Housman;

sister-in-law: Carolyn Denny of LaGrange; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, December 30, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 31, at 10 a.m. in Beulah Baptist Church in Molena. A committal service will follow at 4:30 p.m. (Central time) in Traveler’s Rest Cemetery in Samson, Ala.
