THOMASTON - Mr. Otis E. Franklin, 86, of Bonds Road, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, January 25, 2013 in his hometown of Thomaston, Ga.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning,January 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery. Dr. Rex King of Mt. View Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Franklin was born in Upson County to the late Will A. Franklin and Ruth Ellington Franklin. He was predeceased by nine siblings, Julian Franklin, Becky Vining, Charlie Franklin, W.A. Franklin, Jr., Jack Franklin, Mary Salter, James C. Franklin, Ben Franklin, and Josephine Ellerbee. He was a graduate of the 1942 class at R. E. Lee Institute of Thomaston. Mr. Franklin was a Naval veteran of WWII and following his service, he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1952 from Emory University. He retired in 1983 from U.S. Steel, where he had a successful career as a Tax Accountant and enjoyed 30 years of retirement in his home town of Thomaston with his wife Barbara of 62 years. His retirement was filled with friends and family. Both Barbara and Otis are members of Mountain View Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cox Franklin, four children: Steve (Sandra) Franklin of Palm Harbor, Fla., Greg Franklin of Thomaston, Susan (Philip) Robinson of Liberty, Tenn., and Lance (Fair) Franklin of Atlanta. He is also survived by three sisters, Ruby F. White, Doris F. Jordan, and Betty F. Brodnax, all of Thomaston. Nine grandchildren survive: Travis and Jennifer Franklin of Palm Harbor, Fla., Justin Franklin of Kennesaw, Ga., and Tyler Franklin, deployed - Middle East, Lauren Keeton of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Caitlin Potter of Lebanon, Tenn., Harrison, Katie and Max Franklin of Atlanta. He had one great-grandchild, Lexi Potter of Lebanon.
