The Thomaston-Upson Recreational Department held their basketball playoffs last week, and after some exciting games, the Finals for the 10 & under and 14 & under basketball Championships are set. Here are some game recaps from some basketball action at the Civic Center.


10 & Under Boys-


Lakers: 20


Celtics: 12


The Lakers’ Wanya Johnson and Jaheim Little each tallied seven points to lead the Lakers on a 20-12 victory over the Celtics. With the victory the Lakers advanced to the Championship Game on Monday night. Jeredem Kelly scored four points for the Lakers, while Carmelo Williams chipped in with two points in the victory.


Exzavious Skelton led the Celtics with five points, while Klecey Rockemore, Dh’King Brown, and Noquan Woodward each added two points. Jalen Walker scored one point for the Celtics in the loss.


Sixers: 23


Spurs: 22


The Sixers held off a late rally from the Spurs to earn a 23-22 victory and advance to the Championship Game against the Lakers on Monday night. Milique Smith led the Sixers with 11 points, while Jereuntay Davis added six points. Shondarius Fambro and Donny Parson each chipped in with two points in the victory.


The Spurs were paced by Wesley Bentley ans his 11 points, while Brankeveon Scott added nine points. Darrell Wright scored two points for the Spurs in defeat.


14 & Under Boys-


Nets: 43


Hawks: 31


The Nets defeated the Hawks by a 43-31 score to advance to the Championship Game against the Knicks on Monday. Trey Kelly and Branterick Alexander each reached double figures with 10 points. Jaylan Harris and Jaqualeon Harris both tallied nine points, while Caleb Raines added three points. Brady Puckett chipped in with two points for the Nets in the victory.


The Hawks were paced by 12 points from Jalen Ausbrooks, while Kion Colbert netted seven points. Justin Smith added four points for the Hawks, while Alex Bacerra scored three points. Davione Draine and Trenton Salter each tallied two points, while Ke’Tavious Quiller chipped in with one point.


Lakers: 35


Heat: 32


The Lakers and the Heat finished up their seasons in a battle without playoff implications. The Lakers scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the Heat by a 35-32 score. Trini Harp, Jr. led the Heat with nine points. Dillan Knight tallied six points, Derrius Hayes added five points, Kelvin Carter and Zerekk Carter each scored four points, Trenton Hamilton added three points, while MyKell Daniely and Jarius Bridges each chipped in with two points.


Dakarriyan Searcy led the Heat with 12 points, while Walter Peeler added five points. Basil Clemons and Ke’sean Carter each scored four points, Stanley Steverson finished with three points, while D’narta Searcy and Noah Bohanon each chipped in with two points.
