The Upson-Lee Knights and Lady Knights joined cross country teams from around the middle Georgia area at the Lamar County Cross Country Invitational in Barnesville last week. Crisp County, Griffin, Jackson, Lamar County, Monticello, Pike County, Spalding, and Washington County each attended the event.


The Lady Knights placed third in the event, with Abigail Manley and Sydney Uphold earning medals in the race. Manley placed ninth in the 5K (3.1 mile) race with a time of 23:33.54, while Uphold placed tenth with a time of 24:26.93 in the race. Perla Hernandez (25:04.32), Brittney Bruce (25:23.77), and Lauren Mewbourn (25:33.26) each placed in the top 20 in the event.


The hosting Lady Trojans from Lamar County won the event, followed by Spalding , Upson-Lee, Pike County, and Monticello.


In the boy’s race, the Knights also finished third in the event, with Brian Reviere, Feybian Matthews, and Dalton Strom earning medals in the race. Reviere placed fifth in the race with a time of 18:22.19, while Matthews placed sixth with a time of 18:31.11, and Dalton Strom ran the race in a time of 18:36.43, placing seventh overall.


Washington County won the boy’s race, followed by Spalding and Upson-Lee to round out the top three. Here is a look at the final standings from the event.
