The University of Georgia-Griffin Campus will hold its 7th Annual Preview Day from 10 a.m. to noon at the Student Learning Center on Saturday, September 14, 2013. Any interested students and/or parents are invited. Upson-Lee High School students, especially now since dual enrollment with Gordon College makes it easier to get university credit even while in high school, can take Gordon classes on the UGA, Griffin campus.

Anyone who is a student at an institution for higher learning is encouraged to bring their transcripts, because UGA is a top 20 institution, and the flagship institution in the state, and its entrance requirements are higher, with some specific course requirements that other institutions don’t have.

UGA Officials will be here to answer all future student questions, evaluate transcripts, and help facilitate a transfer to UGA-Griffin Campus. Also some professors will be on campus just to talk to students about the UGA experience here in Griffin.

“So much is happening on the UGA-Griffin campus,” said Perry Buffington, Ph.D, Lecturer in Psychology. “We’re taking the ‘old experiment station’ to the next level. It’s a wonderful opportunity to build upon the fine work that’s been done here over the last century. With all the new majors, new students, state-of-the-art Student Learning Center, and world-class research, Preview Day is a chance for our surrounding community to come by and see firsthand and for new students to get on board!”

UGA-Griffin Campus offers majors in Business, Special Education, Graduate Programs in Education (important because many teachers can now complete their masters, specialists, and doctorates on Griffin campus without travel or paying expensive private or internet program tuition), consumer sciences, biology, microbiology, agricultural sciences, pre-med, pre-vet, and pre-law. The Griffin campus also has new interdisciplinary studies in psychology or sociology with emphasis in criminal justice.

“We’re very proud of our success to date, and we’re just getting started. There are so many possibilities here, and we’re most proud of our retention rate,” said Dr. Doris Christopher, Assistant Vice President, responsible for the entire UGA-Griffin Campus. “We graduate 97 percent of the students who start with us. That’s higher than the Athens campus and is a clear statement that’s we’re on the right track. Our students appreciate us. We appreciate them, and we want more of the community to be a part of our campus.”
