Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-Off and Music Festival

For the last three years, the Smoke on the Water Chili Cook-Off and Music Festival has been held the last Saturday in October, competing with Yatesville’s Chitlin’ Hoedown and events at The Rock Ranch. This year, organizers decided to move the event up to Saturday, Sept. 13, to avoid conflict with any other fall event. Chili contestants are now being sought for the cook-off. There are three categories of competition. Chili has a $25 registration fee, Salsa has a $10 registration fee, and the People’s Choice is free. First Place in the Chili Cook-Off will receive a trophy and $250. Second Place will receive a trophy and $100, and Third Place will receive a trophy and $50. Salsa and People’s Choice winners will receive a trophy and bragging rights.

Gates open at 10 a.m. The music lineup this year will feature Ricky Gunn, Mark Evans, Andy Miller, Luke Martin, Aces & Eights, and Nash Austin & Friends. For more information, contact Bobby Bickley at 706-741-9317.
