Two suspects in a series of armed robberies in Thomaston were arrested Tuesday evening following a manhunt that covered an area that covered the Farview Apartments and Golden Living Center on Avenue F all the way up through a wooded area to Knight Trail.
There have been three armed robberies in the Thomaston area since August 12. The first occurred at the Mini Mouth Store (former A’s Corner store) on South Center Street, Two masked men held the clerk at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of money from the register before escaping in an older model two-door vehicle. The second was on Aug. 23 at the Gold and Silver Mart on Barnesville Street. Two suspects demanded money and merchandise from the clerk at gunpoint. Approximately $350 in cash plus two gold rings were taken. The third armed robbery was at the Hannah’s Mill Convenience Story on Aug. 25. Three suspects entered the store about 11 p.m., their faces covered by their shirts. One pulled a handgun on the clerk and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
Thomaston Police Lieutenant Andrew Pippin issued a press release Wednesday evening in regards to the arrest of the two suspects:
“On August 26, 2014 the Thomaston Police Department’s Investigations Unit was following up on several leads pertaining to the recent armed robberies that occurred in the city of Thomaston. The information lead investigators to the Farview Apartment Complex located at 300 Avenue F in Thomaston. While on scene officers gave chase to two individuals that were later apprehended.
“Luther Ronald Moore was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Joshua Bernard Brown was also charged with Obstruction of Officers. Moore is currently being held at the Upson County Jail and his bond was denied by Upson County Magistrate Judge Ed Searcy.
“These cases are still under investigation and no further information is available at this point in time.”
