Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore issued the following Fraud Warning on Friday, February 28, 2014:

The Upson County Sheriff’s Office has received several recent reports of telephone fraud. Someone has contacted several residents by telephone and claimed to be from the Upson Sheriff’s Office stating that the victims have an outstanding warrant for their arrest for not attending jury duty. The caller then solicits a credit card number and explains they can take payment for a fine over the telephone in order to prevent arrest.

We encourage anyone who receives a similar call to not disclose any information and to report the call us immediately.
