If you have ever visited the Thomaston Post office during the last nearly three decades, then you have likely been helped by David Bell. David has been with the United States Postal Service for 29 years and has spent 28 of those here in Thomaston offering a smiling face and a kind word to everyone who comes to his window. All of his hard work and dedication has paid off, with David being named the Sales Service Associate for 2013 for the 302 District of the USPS, which covers from Atlanta to Thomaston.
“For me, it has been very humbling being recognized,” said David. “I love my job and getting to work with the public. I try to make every customer experience go well. I do my best to make sure my last customer of the day is treated with as much courtesy as my first.”
David was nominated for the award by the local Postmaster and was one of many nominees from the 50 offices in the district. Each nominee had to be scored on 10 different categories and David scored off the charts on each. However, while he appreciates the recognition, he feels he is merely part of an outstanding team.
“Even though I was the one to get recognized we are a team effort and there are five other window clerks who do an exceptional job. Each of the others works just as hard as me and is just as dedicated. I was just the nominee chosen this time.”
The window clerk staff has also reached a milestone by being recognized for their 30th score of 100 in a row for customer service.
