Students at Upson Lee South Elementary got a surprise Tuesday morning when Freddie the Falcon, mascot for the Atlanta Falcons football team, stopped by to tell students about the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Freddie and the Fuel Up to Play 60 team greeted students, participated in the Grab-and-Go breakfast, and visited classes to showcase the Breakfast in the Classroom program during their visit. Fuel Up To Play 60 is a partnership with the National Football League that promotes the importance of healthy nutrition and daily physical activities. The program is designed to combat childhood obesity and help youth develop lifelong healthy eating and daily physical activity habits. The Thomaston-Upson School Nutrition Program, was awarded the surprise visit because of the increased participation in breakfast during 2014-15 school year.
