Hundred of parents and children in K-5th grades packed the Civic Center Thursday for the Back to School Bash school supplies giveaway. People waited in the hallway and outside for their chance to enter the gym and receive the supplies.
Children got to see how many germs are on their hand through the Glow-Germ Demonstration by Upson Regional Medical Center, and received free anti-bacterial cleaners to help them keep their hands clean.
Katrina Chambless, Shay Chambless and Teresa Williams, along with grandchildren Shone Powell, Jr. and Kaziah Powell gathered school supplies.
Chelsea and Marquitta manned the Upson R.E.A.D. table.
Dontavious Little and his aunt checked out the Lakebridge table.
Daniel, Mazzie and Fawn DeRosia from Flint Rose Studio gave out crayons.
Among the organizers of the Back to School Bash were, left to right, Sheriff Dan Kilgore, ULMS Principal Rhonda Gulley, and Thomaston-Upson School System School and Community Relations Director Karen Truesdale.
