Then next weekend, August 14-16, the community is invited to come out and see Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.,” presented by the TUAC Junior Summer Theatre with shows being held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16 at the Upson-Lee Fine Arts Center. The Junior Theatre cast contains approximately 70 students led by Erin Clarke (Director), Clair Shaver (Assistant Director), Larkin McDaniel (Student Assistant) and Carmen Ellerbee (Producer).
“Beauty and the Beast Jr.” tells the story of Belle (Anna Jordan), an adventurous young girl, and the Beast (James Logan), her hideous captor who is actually a young prince trapped under a spell. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn her love in return – before time runs out. With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, including a loving teapot (Anna Davis), a charming candelabra (Dalton Dennis), and a nervous mantel clock (Kya Haywood), Belle and the Beast find a beautiful friendship and love that neither knew was possible. “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” features classic songs from the Academy Award-winning film score such as “Be Our Guest” and “Belle,” as well as original songs from the 1994 Tony-nominated Broadway musical.
Corporate sponsors for the “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” are Dr. Johnny Brown, D.M.D. and Zoe Pediatrics.
