For the third straight year, the Upson Lee High School NJROTC Battalion has received the Unit Achievement Award for 2015 Area 12. Area 12 covers all of the State of Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. Area 12 Manager Commander Rusty Hibbard makes the decisions on who receives the award. During a promotions ceremony last week, Unit Commander Jim Jarvis pinned the award ribbon on the battalion staff.

Twenty-four new cadets were promoted to the rank of Cadet Seaman Apprentice in the promotion ceremony held at the Fine Arts Center last Thursday. The upcoming freshman students participated in a week-long orientation camp held at the school, where they learned the basics of being the NJROTC program.

During the ceremony, Petty Officer Chuck Meyerriecks called the name of each cadet as Commander Jim Jarvis and Master Sergeant Mark Colvin presented them a pin and a certificate in recognition of their achievement.
