The military honor guard carries Daniel’s casket from the plane to a waiting hearse.
Several hundred people, some carrying American flags, gathered at the airport to pay their respects to this fallen soldier.
Patrol cars from the Thomaston Police Department, Upson County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol lead the funeral procession down Highway 19 South to the square in Thomaston. Following the police escort are the Patriot Guard, while the hearse can be seen behind them at the top of the hill.
The hearse circled the square, passing three of the four sides of the flag-draped Upson County Courthouse before heading up Highway 19 North to Bentley’s and Sons Funeral Home on N. Hightower.
The military honor guard and a detachment of the Patriot Guard holding American flags stand at attention under the porte-cochere of the Thomaston-Upson Civic Center, where PFC. Daniel’s funeral was held Wednesday.
Arriving for the funeral of their son are Daniel’s mother, Yolanda Gray (center front with corsage), and father, Christopher Daniel (behind Gray).
A large crowd of family, friends and well-wishers gathered in the gym of the Civic Center for the funeral.
The honor guard carries the casket out at the end of the funeral. Interment was held at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Talbotton.
