The Thomaston Times is looking for a few good men and women, and some letters to Santa. The Times will be publishing its annual Salute to Veterans Special Section on November 10, the day before Veterans Day, and our annual Letters to Santa Special Section on December 15, 10 days before Christmas Day.
Salute to Veterans
As in the past few years, The Thomaston Times will be honoring veterans with their photos and brief biographies. Last year The Times ran information on 156 veterans and are looking for any more who have joined the ranks since then, or haven’t had their information in the special section yet.
The photos and bios are set up by the time period of the war or conflict veterans have been in. The number of veteran in each that are currently listed are: World War I – 2, World War II – 60, Korea – 13, Vietnam – 36, and Anytime after 1975, including Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and the Global War on Terrorism – 45.
If your veteran has already been in one of The Times’ issues, unless you want to update the information on him or her, you don’t need to send us anything. However, if you have a veteran, retired or still on active duty, who has not been in one of the issues, please send brief biography – name, branch of service, conflicts served in, retired or active, and if active and allowed, where he is stationed now, to The Times.
You can bring your information by The Thomaston Times office at 109 N. Center Street in Thomaston, located diagonally across from the Post Office, or you can email it to email@example.com. Any photos brought in will be scanned and be available for pickup at a later date. Deadline for submissions is Monday, Oct. 19.
Letters to Santa
The Thomaston Times has a close relationship with Santa Claus, and he advised that he needs to get Letters to Santa sooner than he’s been getting them, in order to give his elves time to make the toys all the good little boys and girls in Thomaston want.
Therefore, The Times has set our deadline for Letters to Santa at Monday, Nov. 23. That way, the letters will get to Santa in plenty of time. The letters will also be published in The Times’ annual Letters to Santa edition on Dec. 15, to give parents time to see what Santa will be bringing their children.
You can bring your children’s Letter to Santa by The Thomaston Times office at 109 N. Center Street in Thomaston, located diagonally across from the Post Office, or you can email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for submissions is Monday, Nov. 23.
