The Thomaston Times is looking for a few good men and women, and some letters to Santa. We will be publishing our annual Salute to Veterans Special Section on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, the day before Veterans Day, and our annual Letters to Santa Special Section on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, 10 days before Christmas Day.
Salute to Veterans
As we have for the past few years, The Thomaston Times will be honoring our veterans with their photos and brief biographies. Last year we ran information on 156 veterans and are looking for any more who have joined the ranks since then, or haven’t had their information in the special section yet.
The photos and bios are set up by the time period of the war or conflict our veterans have been in. The number of veteran in each that we have are: World War I – 2, World War II – 60, Korea – 13, Vietnam – 36, and Anytime after 1975, including Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and the Global War on Terrorism – 45.
If your veteran has already been in one of our issues, unless you want to update the information on him or her, you don’t need to send us anything. However, if you have a veteran, retired or still on active duty, who has not been in one of our issues, please send us a brief biography – name, branch of service, conflicts served in, retired or active, and if active and allowed, where he is stationed now.
You can bring your information by The Thomaston Times office at 109 N. Center Street in Thomaston, located diagonally across from the Post Office, or you can email it to email@example.com. Any photos brought in will be scanned and be available for pickup at a later date. Deadline for submissions is Monday, Oct. 19.
Letters to Santa
The Thomaston Times has a close relationship with Santa Claus, and he advised us that he needs to get ours Letters to Santa sooner than we’ve been getting them to him, in order to give his elves time to make the toys all the good little boys and girls in Thomaston want.
Therefore, we are having to set our deadline for Letters to Santa at Monday, Nov. 23. That way, we can get the letters to Santa in plenty of time. The letters will also be published in our annual Letters to Santa edition on Dec. 15, to give parents time to see what Santa will be bringing their children.
You can bring your children’s Letter to Santa by The Thomaston Times office at 109 N. Center Street in Thomaston, located diagonally across from the Post Office, or you can email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for submissions is Monday, Nov. 23.
