On Friday, September 4, 2015, Coleman Dumas, III submitted his paperwork to the City of Thomaston Clerk’s Office and officially qualified to be a candidate for Mayor- City of Thomaston. A native of Macon-Bibb County, Pastor Coleman Dumas, III has been a citizen of Thomaston since 2010. Having served his country with pride as a former United States National Guard Reservist and retiring as a Macon-Bibb County Firefighter after 15 years of service, he has dedicated his life to ministry and building a better community wherever he resides. Campaigning under the slogan “A Solution for the Future”, he is extremely passionate about his vision for a better Thomaston. Revolving around 3 key principles: Economic development, investing in Our Kids and Transparency for elected officials, his desire is to bring new and innovative ideas is a much needed change. A major focus and concern for the citizens is to revamp our utility department, lower our tax base for businesses and homeowners and to allow the citizens of Thomaston an opportunity to vote for the future project of “Lake Thomaston”; as the mayor, Coleman Dumas, III will make these tasks a priority.
A leader and visionary by example, he serves as the Pastor of Stonewell Worship Center in Thomaston, Georgia, having seen his congregation grow exponentially from 4 members to over 300 members in only 6 months. Much of that success can be traced to his passion and dedication to the entire Thomaston community and surrounding areas. Since coming to Thomaston, Coleman Dumas, III has been very active in the community with his ministry outreach where he has performed over 400 hours of community service at the Angels of Hope Hospice Center ministering to the residents, while also being instrumental in reaching the needs of the community by organizing feed the needy programs. His presence and action can even be seen at the Upson-Lee South Elementary School where he is very active in the Mentoring Programs.
He is a loving family man with wife-Daphne Lockett Dumas and father of three beautiful children.
Not only is he a graduate of Mercer University, Macon, Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, he is a 2012 graduate of Turner Theological Seminary in Atlanta, where he received his Master’s in Divinity. As the pastor at Stonewell Worship Center, he also holds a certification in Chaplaincy and is active among many of the hospice centers in Central Georgia.
Coleman Dumas, III has his sleeves rolled up and is ready to go to work for Thomaston. He has an appetite for addressing the needs of this community and will tirelessly make sure that this is accomplished. He may not have a plethora of political experience, however, he more than makes up for it with his passion, devotion and dedication to uplifting this community.
