The City of Thomaston/Downtown Action Committee will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Boss Hog BBQ Cook-Off this Saturday, September 26, at the Greatest Generation Memorial Park. In conjunction with the cook-off will be the second annual Art in the Park, sponsored by the Thomaston-Upson Arts Council (TUAC).

The Boss Hog BBQ Cook-Off will be set up a little differently this year. Rather than being in the parking lot and grassy areas at the south end of the park, this year the BBQ teams will set up in the pine thicket located at R Street and Highway 19 North. The cook-off starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. The entry fee for cooking team is $50. Cash prizes of $300 each will be awarded to the 1st place winners in three categories: Pulled Pork, Ribs, and Brunswick Stew. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Greatest Generation Memorial Park for improvements.

Arts and crafts vendors will take part in the Art in the Park at the Greatest Generation Memorial Park, which will run at the same time as the Boss Hog BBQ Cook-Off. Art in the Park will include original paintings, prints, photographs, pottery, carvings, jewelry, glasswork, and woodwork from local artists.
