Work has begun in preparation for Pobiddy Road getting a brand new bridge over the Flint River at the Upson/Talbot county line. A Georgia Department of Transportation Project, the new bridge will be built upstream and adjacent to the current bridge, which will be torn down once the new bridge is complete. Currently, McCoy Grading is bringing in dirt and leveling out the path for the roadway that will lead up to the new bridge. Contractors will wait for spawning seasons for several threatened and endangered species to occur this spring and summer before they begin actual bridge work in September. In the photo, a dump truck can be seen crossing the current bridge while work continues on the new roadway that will lead to the new bridge.
