Thomaston Police are on the lookout for an armed robber who held up a woman stopped at an ATM machine Tuesday night. No one was injured in the robbery.
According to reports, a female driver with two male passengers had stopped at the United Bank Northside ATM machine to make a withdrawal. As the money came out, a black male carrying what appeared to be a handgun walked up to the car and demanded the money. She gave it to him and he ran from the scene.
One of the male passengers realized the robber had not been holding a gun, and both passengers exited the vehicle and gave chase, runningon Hwy. 19 North near Garner Street. As they chased him, they said the robber appeared to pull something out of his jacket. Fearing he was pulling a gun out, they gave up the chase.
The suspect is described as a black male, between 5’8’’ and 6 feet tall, with facial hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue jacket. Anyone with any information relating to this incident is asked to call the Thomaston Police Department.
