Downtown Thomaston is the place to be Friday, May 2, for a rocking concert on the square.
Bring your chairs and blankets and pile in to enjoy Slippery When Wet, the Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute band, with opening act Hudson Road, featuring Thomaston’s own Downey Poteat.
Slippery When Wet has played to many packed houses throughout the Southeast. Their shows are the most attended and highest grossing of any Bon Jovi Tribute in the country, and their lead singer is the spitting image of Bon Jovi himself.
The band’s sound is a dead ringer for Bon Jovi as well. Their drive, musical ability, showmanship and dedication to duplicating the Bon Jovi live experience simply cannot be outdone. In 2007, Bon Jovi officially authorized them to perform their highly entertaining show, and in February they opened for Super Bowl XLVIII.
Chamber Chairman Neal Trice has been instrumental in bringing this event from vision to reality. “A lot of business leaders have chipped in time in planning and effort to make this happen,” he said. “We’re excited to bring some energy and activity to downtown Thomaston and to bring our community together for what we think will be a fun night.”
Presented by Unite Upson and sponsored by Lancaster Energy and Gas South, the gates will open at 6 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the gate and can be purchased at Thomaston locations of Colony Bank, West Central Georgia Bank, UnitedBank, SouthCrest Bank, Rescue Me Market, Upson EMC, Thomaston Hospice and the Chamber of Commerce.
