October 1, 2013
As a benefit fund raiser for the Ritz Digital Projection Fund to enable the Ritz to purchase the necessary new projection equipment, as traditional 35mm film is no longer being used to distribute films to theatres, there will be a special evening featuring two local bands in concert on Friday October 4, 2013 at the Ritz starting at 8 p.m.
It’s Muddy Guy and Loose Change.
Muddy Guy is an open-minded collection of music lovers from Thomaston, composed of members Andy Johnson, Jeremy Atkins, Zack Dawson and Trey Dunnahoo. Their music is a decidedly American mixture of roots rock, southern funk and alternative blues and soul. The band made its debut at the infamous 40 watt Club in Athens, and also recently backed classic soul legend Bo Ponder at Grants Lounge in Macon.
Loose Change started as a band in the early 70’s with guitarists and vocalists Steve Oglesbee (Steve-o) and Steve Fowler. In the mid 8o’s came the addition of bassist Stacy Harper. Since then Loose Change has acquired drummer Bill Umstandt and lead guitarist Scott Jones to round out the current line up.
A special evening to help ‘Save the Ritz’ guaranteed to be worth more than the price of admission.
‘Rockin’ the Ritz’ happens at the Ritz on Friday, October 4 starting at 8 p.m. Tickets in advance are just $8. Admission at the door will be $10. Tickets are available evenings at the Ritz Theatre, 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Thursdays at the Ritz Café or from band members. For further information call the Ritz at 706- 647-5372 (evenings).
