Beatrice was born in Lamar County, Ga., on Aug. 1, 1938 to the the late Mr. Ben Sullivan and Mrs. Mary Lee Sullivan. At the age of seven she joined the West Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she was very active, especially singing in the choirs. After moving to Atlanta she united with the Greater Springfield Baptist Church and later on with Antioch Baptist Church North. Singing was Bea's God-given talent and she was always ready, willing and quite able to use her voice to glorify and lift up the name of Jesus.
Beatrice was educated at Barnesville High Industrial School. She furthered her education by attending Savannah State College. She was employed with and retired from the Fulton County Board of Education.
Beatrice was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Rufus Broughton who preceded her in death. To this union two children were bom.
On May 21, 2000, Beatrice was united in holy matrimony to Mr. John W. Vaughn. Following the wedding she moved back to Barnesville and reunited with the West Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Immediately she became very active in her church. She attended and worked faithfully with the Sunday School and the Senior Missionaries and certainly singing whenever the opportunity came her way.
After a while Beatrice's illness began to limit her somewhat and slowed her down, but on May 1, 2005, the prayers of the righteous were answered and Beatrice was able to walk down the aisle of West Mt. Sinai one more time to praise and worship the Lord. This was a day of joy and thanksgiving for her and all who knew and loved her so much.
