It’s time to dismantle the Braves

Yes, I know that it’s football season, but our beloved Atlanta Braves are also busy limping to the finish of another baseball season. As I write this column they are comfortably out of any playoff contention and playing like they aren’t interested in the playoffs anyway. I honestly feel that they don’t deserve to be in post-season action and would lose quickly if they did somehow find a way in.With that all being said, the question is then, “What do we do wi...

Two heroes of September 11

Like you, I spent a little time reflecting on September 11. I still get a lump in my throat when I think about the tragic losses so many experienced that day 13 years ago. But, the memory that is most vivid for me involves the heroes. Ordinary citizens on an airliner who called their loved ones and stormed the terrorists. The plane crashed, but they thwarted the plan and the jet missed its intended target. The phrase “let’s roll” will always send chills up my spine...

Does the City of Yatesville have a serious problem with its wells and water supply? Yes. Should residents start stockpiling water? No. That will only make matters worse, especially since there is no need to. Your abuse is not appreciated

Much has been written in the last several weeks about men’s physical abuse of women. Former Baltimore Raven Ray Rice’s videotaped knockout of his girlfriend and the initial two-game suspension he received from the NFL prompted both outrage and, of course, an outpouring of fan support for the abuser. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell seemed to realize the gravity of the situation and changed league policy to include harsher sanctions for convicted abusers. Then, when TMZ released foot...
